This Year IPL 2023 is the Season 16. IPL is the World’s best T20 Cricket League and the top players across the globe are auctioned and picked up well before the season starts. Each Franchise keeps a good watch on players around the world and also try to retain the best from previous season to complete the team of 18 players. This can go up to 25 players maximum. Each Team can have maximum of 8 Foreign Players. In the starting line up for playing a match maximum 4 foreign players can be selected. This year again total 10 Teams, will fight it out for the Title.
IPL initiated by BCCI in 2007 and actual action started on 18th April 2008 with a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Night Riders. IPL popularity has increased a lot since its inception in 2008 and no-reason now ipl 2023 is 2nd richest professional sports league in the world.

In 2020 IPL was to start in March but was suspended due to Covid and later was shifted to UAE and started in September 2020. In 2022 the Brand Value of IPL increased to $11 billion.
Season 16 Highlights : This cycle of 5 years ( 2023-2027) BCCI will be earning 3 times the amount they earned for cycle ( 2017 – 2022 ) for Total IPL Media Rights Package . Last cycle earnings were Rs 16347.50 crore and the current cycle is expected to earn Rs 48390 crore. For next 5 years the Digital Media Rights which was bagged by Viacom18 was sold for Rs 23758 crore and the TV Rights bagged by Star Sports for Indian Subcontinent was sold for Rs 23575 crore. The IPL Title Sponsorship was bagged by TATA for 2 years with a sum of Rs 670 crore.
IPL has not only improved Cricket alone it has given rise to India GDP , rise in tourism , generating jobs , increase in viewership giving rise to media exposure , increasing culture diversity , increase in hotel and restaurant business and increase in tax contribution. IPL has become like a festival and each year fans eagerly wait for this event. Audience always look for good competition, excitement and entertainment. IPL is a perfect combination of all three.
In IPL due to passionate fan support and immense fan following around the world has led to increase in India GDP as they spend lot of money in doing so. The market for gadgets , clothes , viewership , tickets and sports equipment has majorly increased. All the big companies related to event take advantage of this massive following and gigantic viewership resulting in increase to their earnings in a big way and thus giving a push to GDP. IPL has given rise to tourism due to international players being part of this league and their fans travelling to India to see them perform in different cities. Indian fans living in other countries also visit India in big numbers during IPL season. Thus giving rise to travel , hotel and restaurant business. IPL also generates employment as lot of work force , equipment and staff is required to stage such a big event. The government revenue in terms of tax collection has also increased as IPL is a commercial activity.

The first player of the series in 2008 was Shane Watson. Fastest 100 is by Chris Gayle in 30 balls. Fastest 50 is by two batsman in 14 balls. KL Rahul and Pat Cummins. Last season two new members were introduced in IPL increasing the total to 10 Teams. Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants. Gujarat Titans won the Title in its first year. The player of the series was Jos Butler.
IPL 2023 – This is the 16th Season and again 10 teams will fight for IPL Trophy. This year the trophy will be known as TATA IPL as TATA has bagged the IPL rights by paying Rs 670 crore for two year of sponsorship.
